We've got answers to common eyelash extension questions

Eyelash extensions are semi-permanent individual false eyelashes designed to look and feel like real lashes. They are adhered to your individual natural lashes with a safe and durable glue, and they fall out with your body’s natural shedding process.

Eyelash extensions are made from synthetic fibres in different weights and textures that mimic silk, mink, or natural hair. Lashes are applied directly to your natural lash hairs, and neither the extensions nor the adhesives are in direct contact with your skin.

On their own, your lash extensions should last around 3 weeks, or for the duration of your body’s natural hair-shedding cycle (most people lose 3-4 natural eyelashes a day). It’s normal to lose a few lashes the first day. Regular infilling and proper aftercare can extend the life of your lashes for several weeks more!

No! At Lash n’ Dash, we strive to make our studio comfortable and calm. The treatment itself is non-invasive, and the gentle, continuous action can actually be quite relaxing.

However, because your lash artist is working on your eyelids, some people can experience a mild tenderness during and immediately following the process. It is not painful, but you may be aware of your eyelids for a little while. This will subside once you become used to your new lashes!

A very small percentage of people can develop an allergy to the adhesive, resulting in redness or swelling. If this should occur, we will remove your extensions! Though it is rare, we recommend anyone experiencing a severe allergic reaction to contact a medical professional.

This is an excellent question! It’s important to come ready for application, which means fresh-faced. Do not wear any eye cream or makeup, and make sure you do not use an oil-based makeup remover to clean your eyes just before the procedure, as the oils break down the adhesive.

Absolutely! Lash extensions are designed to be a part of your regular beauty regimen. Eye makeup is fine, although you will find you probably have no more need for mascara! Should you still really want to wave that wand, we do recommend avoiding waterproof mascara, as it can be very difficult to remove. We suggest using only non-oil-based products (including eye makeup removers), which can affect the adhesives.

Yes! After 48 hours (just to be sure), you can engage in all of your normal activities! Swimming pools, hot tubs, and steam rooms are all safe. Just remember to pat your eyes dry instead of rubbing!

We do not recommend removing extensions yourself. If you don’t wish to wait for the lashes to fall out naturally, we can remove them using special, safe solvents to “unstick” the adhesive. Eyelid tissue is very sensitive, and your hair follicles are very near the surface. We don’t want you to risk causing damage to your eyes!
